Experience a winter environment with sights like a huge teddy bear, candy canes and a full scale Polar Express Train. Throw fish and interact with the pesky penguins, or capture a photo of The Winter Wonderland to share with family and friends. You can experience the Winter Wonderland virtual experience in two of Belfast’s urban villages. The Yellow Design team look forward to welcoming the people of Belfast to CS Lewis Square and Colin Park and wish you all a lovely Christmas.
Colin Park offers three main active zones - play facility, active zone and educational garden with outdoor classroom - with the rest of the park being a calm and open space. The active zone comprises of an off road cycle track, open activity space and woodland walking and marked running routes with fitness equipment, offering recreation for older groups.
C.S. Lewis Square is located at the intersection of the Connswater and Comber Greenways, beside the EastSide Visitor Centre, in east Belfast. It features seven sculptures which are inspired by characters from C.S. Lewis’ ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ and a performance space which regularly hosts a range of events and activities.

Creative Director, Yellow Design / Rovar
In the spirit of Christmas, our team sparked the idea to celebrate and share our creative ideas with communities across Belfast. We believe our mix of creativity, story-telling and virtual technology can reimagine outdoor public spaces and by bringing Winter Wonderland to the Urban Villages at Colin Park and C.S Lewis Square along the Glider G1 route everyone can have great fun feeding penguins, launching virtual snowballs and capturing a few photos to share with friends and family.
Community Representative, Sinn Fein MLA
We have been delighted with the response to the official opening of Colin Park recently and aligned with our vision for future community engagement, the Virtual Winter Wonderland Experience using new augmented reality technology showcases the capabilities of how this open public space can be constantly re-imagined with creative ideas. Available on the public transport network, with the Glider G1 and black Taxis offering easy access, we are demonstrating what a smarter, sustainable community can offer.
Manager, EastSide Greenways
We love to see C.S. Lewis Square being well used for a variety of activities and by a range of people throughout the year. We’re very happy to showcase The Winter Wonderland virtual experience and think it is a fantastic way of using technology to attract people to open and accessible spaces. We hope that people will jump on the Glider and join us at C.S. Lewis Square.
Yellow Design have created amazing virtual experiences with their Rovar AR Platform, introducing creativity and imagination that connects people and places.
These fun and interactive creations have led to working with customers across transport, retail and entertainment, from The New Game of Thrones Studio Tour, delivering for the Linenmill Studios in Banbridge, to Emirates Airlines, Dubai and The Aldar Group, based at the Formula 1 track in Abu Dhabi.
New experiences will be introduced across the Glider network in Belfast beginning in Spring 2023. These will include Titanic, housed within Thompson Dry Dock, allowing everyone to appreciate the ship at full scale in it’s original birth place. This innovation showcase will be one of the largest virtual experiences in the world and has been developed to support the tourism industry as a new exciting attraction in the Smart District of Belfast.
The Yellow Design studio have used their Rovar AR platform to produce this seasonal piece of immersive entertainment for the people of their home city, to enjoy for free, after having had a very successful year deploying their platform and virtual creations at home, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The Winter Wonderland demonstrates how you can use new tools and technologies to enhance a public transportation network, connecting our people and places, creating social city hubs within public areas.
